Microsoft today released a security advisory for Microsoft Office. Although the exploit currently only affects Excel it is being released as an Office advisory because it could affect other Office products. Microsoft recommends that users not open attachments from known and unknown sources that are unsolicited.
Interestingly, this exploit does not affect the newly released Office 2007…Maybe this is Microsoft’s way of telling us to upgrade.
To read more the advisory is at Microsoft Security Advisory (932553).
